Hi everybody! I just wanted to update you on life as I am two weeks away from launching on my trip now!
First I’ll fill you in on my summer. This summer I worked part-time at my dental job, while also serving 4 days a week at Camp Ray Bird. I was so grateful for the opportunity to do both. I am always blessed by the work I get to do at camp, it is so refreshing to work with kids and see them meet God for the first time. God worked in the lives of campers and staff this summer, and it has gotten me excited to continue ministry for the next year with the World Race!
This summer was also filled with time seeing my family, friends, and my church family as well. Plus, some time was spend working on fundraising for my trip! I met individually with a few people to discuss it, as well as sent out some fundraising letters to my family and friends. Overall, I feel like God really blessed me with a summer that was somehow both super busy but also restful for my soul, I am thankful for all the life-giving activities I was able to squeeze in.
As of now, my last day of work was on Monday, camp is over, and I am in trip preparation mode! My biggest tasks right now are fundraising and physically preparing for this trip. Here are some of the things I still need to do before I leave on August 28th –
– Finish my shopping list
– Make time to visit friends and family
– Find something to do with my car for a year
– Take care of some medical appointments
– Practice packing everything I am bringing for 11 months into 1 bag
– Online training
– Continuing education courses to renew my dental hygiene license (I don’t want it to drop while I am gone)
– MOVE all my stuff from my current house to my parents a week before I leave, I will be staying with them until it is time to go
– Keep fundraising
These are just some of the things I will be working on over the next couple weeks, and I am thankful that I am done with work so I have the time for it all!
I am also super thankful for my whole family who have been super supportive and helpful for this whole entire process, it is an answer to prayer and takes a huge load off my shoulder to have my family’s support. I am especially thankful to my sister Lilly, who is both helping me fund raise with a T-shirt project as well as helping me find everything I need to leave.
Fundraising Update:
As I write this, I am currently sitting at 51% funded! Thank you God! That is enough to allow me to go to raining and leave the country, and its a huge blessing to know that is covered. That being said, I am trying to raise as much as I can before I leave for my trip, as fundraising will get much harder once I am gone. My current projects are a Buy-A-Box fundraiser, and a t-shirt fundraiser that will launch in a couple weeks. I will link my box fundraiser at the bottom of this post so that you can take a look at it!
Prayer Requests:
Thank you for everyone who is praying! Here are my current prayer requests
– That my mind and heart will not be distracted, but will be focused on God leading up to my departure
– For all my goodbyes I am saying
– Physical healing, I was in an accident a few weeks ago and still have some lingering pain and complications
– Fundraising
Thank you everyone for reading, I will update again in a few weeks :
